Elderly couple gets new home through barangay initiative in Ilocos Norte

Personnel of the 56th Infantry Battalion (56IB), barangay officials and local stakeholders have completed the construction of a new home for an elderly couple in Barangay Visaya, Vintar, Ilocos Norte.
The couple had been living in a small, deteriorating house with damaged walls, raising safety concerns as their age and limited financial resources made it difficult for them to carry out repairs and maintenance.
Barangay Captain Elimar C. Vidal and Bacarra Municipal Engineer Engr. Rafael R. Galicinao II coordinated with the 56IB to address the couple’s housing needs.
The construction was led by Staff Sgt. Julyver L. Nacion (CE) PA, with 56IB personnel led by Capt. Al-Jame S. Bin Abdullah (INF) PA providing construction materials, technical assistance and volunteer labor.
The completed house is expected to provide the couple with a safer and more suitable living environment. An official turnover ceremony is scheduled in the coming days.
The project was completed through the joint efforts of the military, local government and community stakeholders, reflecting their collaboration in assisting vulnerable residents and addressing basic community needs.
