From matinee idol to first-time feature film director, Alden Richards, known offscreen as Richard R. Faulkerson Jr., adds another accolade to his ever-evolving career. His directorial debut, Out of Order, has been officially selected to compete at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in Vietnam, set to run from 29 June to 5 July.

The film marks a major turning point for Richards, who has long expressed a desire to expand his creative voice beyond acting. Now, as he steps behind the camera, his vision takes center stage in one of Asia’s growing platforms for cinematic excellence.

Produced by Viva Films and Myriad Entertainment Corporation, Out of Order stars Alden himself alongside a stellar ensemble cast led by veteran actor Nonie Buencamino and rising star Heaven Peralejo. The film also features powerful performances from Soliman Cruz, Andrea del Rosario, Joyce Ching, Nicco Manalo, Francine Garcia, and Yayo Aguila, reflecting Richards’ commitment to showcasing both veteran and fresh talent in Philippine cinema

With a screenplay co-written by Richards, along with Ryan Evangelista, Randy Villanueva, and Atty. Karen Lustica, the film explores complex human relationships and moral ambiguity against the backdrop of a society struggling to make sense of modern chaos.

As Out of Order prepares for its world premiere on an international stage, Alden Richards not only reintroduces himself as a filmmaker but also affirms his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the growth of Philippine cinema.
