The Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) has issued Circular No. 102-2025 declaring a half-day work schedule for all first- and second-level courts nationwide on Holy Wednesday, 16 April 2025, in observance of the Holy Week.
The SC said work will conclude at 12:00 noon to allow judges and court personnel sufficient time to prepare for the upcoming religious observance of Holy Week.
This follows a resolution by the Supreme Court En Banc and was made after consultation with Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo.
The move is in line with broader national efforts to accommodate Holy Week celebrations, as government offices have also been instructed to adopt a half-day work-from-home arrangement on Holy Wednesday, with work suspended from 12:00 p.m. onwards.
The SC said private companies are left to decide whether to implement similar arrangements for their employees.
In a subsequent memorandum signed by Maria Carina Matammu-Cunanan, Deputy Clerk of Court and Chief Administrative Officer, the SC has implemented a half-day work-from-home arrangement for its employees on Holy Wednesday, 16 April 2025.
Work will be conducted remotely from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a suspension of work from 12:00 p.m. onwards.
Essential services within the judiciary will continue with a skeleton workforce.
The Docket-Receiving Section of the Judicial Records Office and the Cash Collection and Disbursement Division, Financial Management and Budget Office, will maintain operations to ensure continuity of critical functions.
