Dad shoots minor accused of beating his child
A nine-year-old child is recovering at Tondo Medical Center after being shot by a resident of Navotas City for allegedly beating up his son.
According to Navotas City Police Chief Colonel Mario Cortes, the suspect was arrested in Barangay NBBN.
An initial investigation revealed that the victim admitted to beating up another minor, identified as alias “JR,” who then reported the incident to his father.
Upon learning about the altercation, the suspect, identified as alias “Aljhun,” went out with two friends to look for the victim.
“When they spotted the victim walking, the suspect and alias JR got off their motorcycles. Alias JR pointed out the victim, and the suspect confronted him before firing a single shot,” the police report stated.
The bullet struck the victim’s chest and exited through his right back.
A follow-up operation led by Police Master Sergeant Joey Ang III and Police Staff Sergeant Ervin Montederamos of the North Bay Boulevard Substation resulted in the arrest of “Aljhun” at his home.
Investigators determined that the suspect used an improvised firearm in the attack.
The accused faces multiple charges, including frustrated murder and violation of RA 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. Meanwhile, police are still searching for the two accomplices, who remain at large.
