A portion of MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City is set to undergo major rehabilitation, covering the stretch from Barangay Malinta to Barangay Malanday, with completion targeted before December 2025.

Valenzuela City First District Representative Kenneth Gatchalian said they are coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for road rehabilitation, road concreting, and drainage improvement along the key highway.

The first phase of the project will begin at the intersection of MacArthur Highway and Gov. I. Santiago Road in Barangay Malinta. This section spans approximately 300 linear meters and consists of four lanes.

Gatchalian said the roadwork is expected to be completed by 17 August, with the possibility of earlier completion depending on favorable weather conditions.

In Barangay Dalandanan, road rehabilitation and drainage reconstruction are also underway along the four lanes of MacArthur Highway in front of Wilcon Depot. This portion is scheduled for completion by 20 September.

The inner lanes of both the southbound and northbound sides of MacArthur Highway from T. Santiago to ACA Road in Barangay Malanday are also being repaired, with work projected to finish by 8 September.

Additionally, all lanes of MacArthur Highway from the Malanday-Meycauayan boundary to Woodlands Drive, covering an estimated 100 linear meters, are expected to be completed by 23 August.

Gatchalian emphasized that the roadwork solutions are designed to be long-term and capable of withstanding the weight of heavy trucks that frequently use the highway.

“Many large trucks pass through here, so we want the concrete to be thicker and capable of handling the weight of the vehicles,” he said.

The work includes digging, grading, pouring of concrete, and the addition of reinforced concrete. According to Gatchalian, the reinforced concrete will meet the highway standard of 3,500 pounds per square inch

He also said that MacArthur Highway will be elevated in some areas to prevent flooding, aligning it with the elevation of nearby roads and addressing water accumulation in low-lying zones.

Construction will be done lane by lane to avoid a total road closure and minimize traffic disruption.
