Motorists warned against fake traffic enforcers

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has warned motorists against individuals falsely presenting themselves as local government unit officers, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel, traffic enforcers, or authorized parking attendants to demand payments for alleged traffic violations or collect unauthorized fees.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano directed police districts, chief of police, station commanders and concerned units to investigate reports, preserve digital evidence, if any, identify suspects and possible fraud networks, and coordinate with local government units, the MMDA, and cybercrime authorities to address these schemes.
The warning follows the arrest of three individuals who allegedly posed as parking attendants and collected excessive parking fees from motorists in Malate, Manila.
Abrahano earlier cautioned the public against fraudulent traffic notices sent through text messages or online platforms, particularly those containing suspicious links or directing recipients to unofficial payment websites following the re-implemantation of No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) in Metro Manila.
He urged motorists to verify the identity and authority of anyone claiming to be a government representative and confirm traffic citations and payment instructions through official government channels before paying.
“Do not be easily deceived by individuals who use the names of government agencies to demand money. Report suspicious transactions and preserve messages, receipts, screenshots, and other evidence that can help authorities identify and investigate those responsible,” the NCRPO chief said.
