Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended assistance to 117 families affected by a fire in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, during a relief activity recently.

The families lost their homes in a fire on 18 September. Go’s team distributed financial assistance, fire-relief packs, water containers, snacks, shirts, vitamins, pens and basketballs or volleyballs. Shoes and watches were also prepared for distribution through a raffle.

Go is the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent evacuation centers in every city and municipality.

He also filed Senate Bill 173, which seeks to establish a Department of Disaster Resilience to improve government coordination and preparedness for natural and human-induced disasters.

Senate Bill 415, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Program Act, seeks to provide rental assistance to eligible informal settler families and disaster victims who need temporary shelter while recovering from calamities.
