The Land Transportation Office (LTO) ordered the issuance of a show cause order Tuesday against the registered owner and rider of a motorcycle involved in an alleged road rage incident where a stone was thrown at a child inside a moving tricycle.

According to the order, the motorcycle rider and his back rider engaged in an altercation with the child’s mother while operating their respective vehicles before picking up a rock and throwing it at the tricycle carrying the mother and child.

LTO investigators identified the registered owner and rider following a preliminary investigation and directed both individuals to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division at the LTO Central Office on 29 September to submit sworn statements.

The agency is investigating potential violations including reckless driving, failure to wear standard protective motorcycle helmets, operating a motor vehicle without required accessories, and non-compliance with the Anti-Distracted Driving Act.

The LTO suspended the rider’s driver’s license for 90 days pending the investigation and placed the motorcycle under alarm status.

Transport officials noted that the rider’s driver’s license may be permanently revoked if he is determined to be an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
