  • Police arrested a 32-year-old tricycle driver and seized a caliber .45 firearm and ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taguig City on Thursday, 17 September.

At about 6:30 p.m., personnel of Taguig City Police Station's Sub-Station 4, in coordination with the Station Intelligence Section, implemented a search warrant issued by the executive judge of Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 69 for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The operation resulted in the arrest of alias Edison, a resident of Barangay Sta. Ana, Taguig City.

During the search, police officers seized one caliber .45 firearm without a serial number, four pieces of live ammunition, one caliber .45 magazine, and one holster.

The seized items were properly marked, photographed, and inventoried in the presence of witnesses. The implementation of the search warrant was also documented through a body-worn camera and an alternative video recording device in accordance with established procedures.

Following the operation, the arrested suspect was brought to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for medical and physical examination before being turned over to the Investigation and Detective Management Section for proper disposition.

The seized firearm will undergo ballistic and cross-matching examination at the Southern Police District forensic unit.

Authorities will also coordinate with the Regional Civil Security Unit to verify the firearm’s registration status and determine whether the arrested suspect possesses the required license to own and possess firearms, firearms registration, and permit to carry firearms outside residence.

Appropriate charges for violation of Section 28 of Republic Act 10591 are being prepared for referral to the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.
