Shanaia Gomez is making it clear that she intends to remain in control of her own story, following widespread online discussion surrounding a recent social media post.

The actress addressed questions about why she chose to publicly share certain details from her past, stressing that deciding what appears on her personal accounts is ultimately her choice.

For Shanaia, establishing those limits did not happen overnight. She said it took her 24 years to develop the boundaries she now maintains in her personal life, and she does not believe she should apologize for protecting them.

“I’m allowed to share whatever I want on my social media accounts. I’m allowed to talk about whatever I want on my social media accounts,” Shanaia said.

She added that while she may speak openly about some experiences, that does not mean the public is automatically entitled to every detail.

“I don’t owe anyone an explanation. I will share what I’m comfortable sharing, what I’m willing to share,” she stressed.

Her statement came after an earlier post gained attention online when she shared screenshots of alleged Instagram direct messages she said she received when she was only 14 years old.

Shanaia did not publicly identify the male celebrity she was referring to, although the details she shared prompted online speculation about the person’s identity.

Carlos Agassi subsequently responded after some social media users linked his name to the issue. Shanaia, however, did not name Agassi in the post described here, and online speculation alone does not establish the identity of the person behind the alleged messages.

Amid the discussion, Shanaia appears determined not to let public curiosity dictate how much of her experience she needs to disclose.

“It has taken 24 years, long years, for me to set these boundaries, to build these boundaries in my life. So I will not apologize for having those,” she said.

More importantly, she reminded people commenting on the controversy that they may not fully understand the emotional weight of an experience simply from what has been shared publicly.

“At the end of the day, you have no idea how it affected me personally and what I had to go through,” Shanaia said.

Rather than providing every answer being demanded online, Shanaia’s latest statement draws a clear line between speaking publicly about a personal experience and surrendering one’s right to privacy.

For the actress, sharing part of her story does not mean she has to share all of it.
