Police are investigating an incident involving a 43-year-old man who was found injured along a highway in Barangay Quinavite, Bauang, La Union, late Saturday evening, September 12, 2026.

According to the Bauang Municipal Police Station, the victim, a married resident of Bauang, was found lying alongside the highway at around 10:30 p.m. under circumstances that remain unclear.

Police said the victim may have been involved in a possible hit-and-run incident or may have been physically assaulted by unidentified individuals.

A concerned citizen who discovered the injured man immediately summoned a medical ambulance, which transported him to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

The victim was admitted for medical treatment and observation and remains confined at the hospital. He was reportedly in stable condition.

The victim's 23-year-old brother later sought police assistance to determine the circumstances surrounding his injuries. The incident was reported to the Bauang police station at around 11 a.m. on September 13 and subsequently reported to the La Union Police Provincial Office at 4:16 p.m. the same day.

Bauang police have initiated a follow-up investigation to establish whether the victim was assaulted, struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, or injured under other circumstances.

Authorities are continuing to gather information and identify possible witnesses to clarify what happened.
