  • Two men were arrested after they were allegedly caught betting money while playing a billiard game in Piddig, Ilocos Norte on Sunday, 6 September.

The operation stemmed from a report received by the Piddig Municipal Police Station about individuals allegedly engaged in illegal gambling at the Felipe Building.

Police intelligence personnel validated the report before the station's operating team proceeded to the area following a pre-operation briefing.

The two suspects, a 44-year-old self-employed man from Dingras and a 39-year-old self-employed man from Piddig, were allegedly caught in the act of playing a billiard game known as the "15-ball game" involving bet money at about 5:20 p.m.

Police seized a billiard table, four cue sticks, a billiard bridge or rest, a billiard triangle or rack, and 16 billiard balls.

Authorities also confiscated two genuine P500 bills and one genuine P50 bill believed to have been used as bet money.

The suspects and the confiscated items were brought to the Piddig MPS for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges for alleged violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which penalizes illegal gambling activities.
