Police destroy marijuana plantations in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur


Police and anti-drug operatives discovered and destroyed three marijuana plantations in Barangay Caoayan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, during an eradication operation on 5 September.
The operation, conducted from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., was led by the Ilocos Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit with personnel from the 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, ISPIDMU-KIMAT, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 1, and Sugpon Municipal Police Station.
Authorities said the sites covered an estimated 111 square meters and contained 600 fully grown marijuana plants and 1,400 marijuana seedlings. The seized plants had a total estimated street value of P176,000.
The largest plantation covered about 100 square meters and contained 600 fully grown plants valued at P120,000. Two seedbeds contained 400 and 1,000 marijuana seedlings, respectively.
Police uprooted and burned the marijuana plants at the sites after conducting documentation and inventory procedures. Samples were retained for laboratory examination.
No cultivator was arrested during the operation.
