  • The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has identified a specific area in Taguig City linked to illegal drug distribution and expects to conduct targeted enforcement operations, NBI director Melvin Matibag announced Wednesday.

While Matibag referred to the targeted zone as an “open secret,” he declined to publicly disclose the precise location, citing active intelligence gathering and ongoing operational planning.

The announcement directly contradicts statements from Taguig City Police chief Julius Añonuevo, who previously asserted that no illegal drug hubs or open-air markets operated within city jurisdiction.

Matibag cited that local police and federal investigators simply reached different conclusions based on separate intelligence streams.
