The Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced Monday that its free transit initiative, “Libreng Sakay,” has served more than 3.54-million commuters nationwide since launching in August 2022.
In a statement marking the program’s fourth anniversary, the agency detailed the reach of the free ride service for workers, students and other commuters across multiple regions.
“As of 30 June 2026, the Libreng Sakay Program has already served more than 3.54-million commuters nationwide,” the OVP stated.
To mark the anniversary, the OVP distributed 5,000 commemorative tokens to passengers on selected bus routes across Metro Manila, Naic in Cavite, Bacolod City, Tacloban City, Metro Cebu and Metro Davao.
Launched during the first month of Vice President Sara Duterte’s term, the program provides free bus rides on selected routes through partnerships with transport providers and local governments.
