Ed Sheeran has revealed that he became a fan of global girl group KATSEYE before they ever worked together, crediting the group’s hit song “Gnarly” for inspiring him to reach out.
According to Billboard, the Grammy-winning singer first heard “Gnarly” while traveling in Mexico last year and was so impressed that he immediately contacted the group to ask if he could write a song for them.
That collaboration eventually became “Animal.” A newly released behind-the-scenes video shows Sheeran crafting the track from the ground up, working on the chorus alongside KATSEYE members Daniela, Lara and Megan before the group recorded the final vocals.
The collaboration marks another milestone for KATSEYE, whose growing global popularity continues to attract some of the biggest names in the music industry.
