Two individuals posing as police officers were arrested Friday by the Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for grave threats and illegal possession of firearms.

The suspects were identified only by their aliases, "Jon" and "Rey," both 26-year-old residents of Marikina City.

Initial investigation revealed that at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, personnel from PS 14 were conducting a routine patrol along Visayas Avenue in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, when two female victims approached them.

"The complainants reported that two men, who introduced themselves as police officers, had threatened them with a firearm inside a bar," the QCPD report said.

Responding officers proceeded to the area and saw alias "Jon" heading toward a silver Ford Everest and attempting to retrieve a firearm from the vehicle.

"However, upon noticing the presence of the responding officers, he hurriedly concealed the firearm inside the vehicle," the police report added.

Alias "Rey," meanwhile, was later found hiding inside an adjacent massage parlor, according to the report.

"When asked to present proof that they were members of the Philippine National Police, as well as the necessary licenses and authority to possess and carry the recovered firearms, both suspects failed to do so. Hence, they were placed under arrest," the QCPD said.

The suspects will face charges of grave threats under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code, usurpation of authority under Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code, and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013.
