TACLOBAN CITY — A Grade 6 pupil of Sto. Niño SPED Center and his guardian have been referred for counseling and disciplinary intervention after the child admitted fabricating an online threat against the school, police said.

An investigation by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Unit traced the source of the threat to the learner, who confessed to creating a Facebook account under the name “William Velasco,” sending a threatening message to the account, taking a screenshot of it, and sharing the image with a classmate.

The incident prompted a teacher to report the threat to the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO), which immediately coordinated with school officials to validate the report and gather evidence.

After its investigation, the TCPO declared the incident a false alarm, saying there was no actual threat against the school, its students, or personnel.
