Content creator and actress Jelai Andres candidly shared the long and difficult road she faced in seeking an annulment, revealing that the process tested not only her patience but also her finances.

During her guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Andres admitted that the uncertainty of the legal proceedings made the experience even more exhausting.

“Napakahirap, Tito Boy, kasi una sa lahat, hindi ko po sure kung maga-grant ’yung annulment. Napakahirap po sa pag-aantay mo, siyempre po ’yung gastos, tapos darating na ’yung time na, manghihina ka na, ‘Hindi na yata ’to mangyayari, ’di na yata maga-grant ’to,’” she recalled.

When Boy Abunda asked how long the process took, Andres explained that it stretched over several years because the case had to be handled in different locations.

“All in all po, pag pinagsama-sama is five years po, pero ’yung three years po doon inilipat ko sa ibang lugar, sa probinsiya, kaya naging three years na lang. Pero ’yung two years po, dito sa Q.C., parang nasayang siya.”

Beyond the emotional strain, Andres also revealed the significant financial burden that came with pursuing the case. Asked about the total amount she spent, she admitted she could no longer recall the exact figure because of the numerous expenses incurred over the years.

“Tito Boy, hindi ko na maalala kung magkano, siguro lagpas… may milyon din po.”

Reacting to her revelation, Abunda remarked that annulment can be equally draining emotionally and financially.

“Hindi lang mahirap sa emosyon, mahirap din sa bulsa.”

Andres’ story sheds light on the realities many Filipinos face when pursuing annulment in the country, where the process can take years and require substantial financial resources before a marriage can be legally dissolved.
