Actress and former television personality BB Gandanghari has opened up about a recent health scare that prompted her to return to the Philippines after doctors in the United States discovered a cardiovascular condition.
In an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk, Gandanghari revealed that she was advised to undergo an angiogram abroad after doctors detected a blockage in her heart. However, she chose to seek a second opinion before proceeding with the recommended treatment.
“Unfortunately for health reasons. Sa America, I was diagnosed with cardio-vascular condition na may nakitang blockage sa puso ko. I was very emotional in the States. I was supposed to have angiogram there and go through the whole process. But I wasn’t sure kasi sabi ko I don’t know if I’m too young for that. Kasi they want to put a stent in my heart already. Sabi ko, let me go back, babalik muna ako sa Pilipinas and have a second opinion there.”
After returning home, Gandanghari said she committed herself to making significant lifestyle changes while preparing for further medical evaluation. She adopted a healthier diet and even spent time in Iloilo to rest and recover.
The actress later underwent a medical procedure in the Philippines, where doctors found encouraging results.
“I had my procedure last week for second opinion. Of course, during that whole process I changed my lifestyle. I changed my diet. I went to Iloilo to have that clear air, magpahinga. So I had my procedure last week and God is good. Iyong blockage na nakita sa akin sa Amerika had diminished to the extent that I don’t need a stent for it. It’s the most important thing for me.”
Gandanghari expressed gratitude that her condition had improved enough to avoid a stent, describing the outcome as a blessing and emphasizing the importance of prioritizing one’s health and well-being.
