The Sandiganbayan has archived a graft case filed against expelled lawmaker Zaldy Co over the failure of law enforcement authorities to arrest him.
The court’s Seventh Division noted that “Co has remained at large for more than six months from the time the Warrant of Arrest was delivered to the proper police officers for implementation.”
Archiving does not drop a case but merely puts it on hold until the respondent can be put under the jurisdiction of the court.
The National Bureau of Investigation told the court that "despite efforts undertaken, the accused could not be located at the address indicated in the Warrant of Arrest."
The archiving is "without prejudice to the reinstatement or revival of the case and its withdrawal from the archives upon the such time as the Court acquires jurisdiction over his person."
Co is facing graft and malversation cases over the allegedly anomalous road dike project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
The warrant was issued on 21 November 2025 but Co already left the country earlier in July.
