Nadine Lustre, Alden Richards team up for first time in Viu series 'Love, Siargao'

A new on-screen partnership is set to redefine Filipino romance on streaming as Nadine Lustre and Alden Richards officially come together for the first time in the upcoming Viu original series Love, Siargao. The announcement, made by Viu, immediately sent fans buzzing, marking one of the most anticipated screen pairings of 2026.

Set against the spellbinding landscapes of Siargao Island, the romance drama unfolds around a local myth whispered among islanders—the so-called Siargao Curse. According to legend, those who arrive on the island either end up staying for good or surrendering to a love they can never escape. This haunting idea forms the emotional backbone of the 26-episode series, scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of 2026.

Richards takes on the role of Jao, a man grounded in logic and discipline, whose carefully built beliefs are slowly dismantled by the island’s quiet magic. Opposite him, Lustre plays Kara, a woman whose worldview runs counter to the myth yet is deeply intertwined with Siargao’s spirit. As their clashing perspectives collide, what begins as resistance turns into a powerful connection—one that tests devotion, freedom, and the courage to choose love despite uncertainty.

Love, Siargao also introduces a broader international flavor with the inclusion of Korean actor Choi Bo-min, adding another layer to the series’ cross-cultural appeal. Through its collaboration with Viva Entertainment, the production promises not just a sweeping love story but an immersive visual journey—showcasing Siargao’s surf breaks, sun-drenched shores, and laid-back island soul as an essential character in the narrative.

The series arrives at a peak moment in both leads’ careers. Richards continues to expand his creative footprint following recent ventures as actor, filmmaker, and producer, while Lustre remains one of her generation’s most compelling performers. Fresh from her acclaimed turn in the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Call Me Mother, Lustre brings renewed depth to this romantic role, further cementing her evolution beyond her earlier love-team era.

More than a love story, Love, Siargao is poised to be a meditation on destiny—on how places change people, and how love, like the sea, can be both gentle and unforgiving. When the waves finally roll in on Viu next year, audiences may find themselves asking the same question as its characters: if love calls, would you stay?
