  • Nadine Lustre is taking her music in a bolder direction with the release of “Donuts,” a collaboration with Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap that blends pop, hip-hop and R&B into one confident anthem.

Released under Cool Girl Records, the track marks a noticeable shift from the polished pop sound of her previous single, “Personal.” Instead, “Donuts” leans into hard-hitting 808s, gritty production and rap-driven verses, opening with narration by Francis Brew of The Dawn and haunting choir vocals before launching into its retro-futuristic beat.

Lustre delivers rap-sung verses with swagger and attitude, showcasing a more urban sound while maintaining the honesty and confidence that have defined her recent releases. The song also gains added star power from Apl.de.Ap, who contributes a Taglish verse celebrating his Filipino roots, referencing Lapu-Lapu while rapping about resilience and taking control of one's destiny.

“Donuts” was written by Lustre, Andric Ivo Empreso and Jan Roberts Baloloy, with production by Khalil Atienza, Elijiah Wudz Bitacura and Isagani Palabyab. The single serves as the second release in what appears to be a larger musical project from the award-winning actress and singer.
