The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday said the digital or e-driver’s license issued through its Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) is a valid proof of identity for motorists and may be presented during traffic violations and inspections.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao said the validity of the e-driver’s license is anchored on Department of Transportation (DOTr) Order No. 2023-015, issued in 2023.

Lacanilao said motorists may show the digital license to traffic enforcers who flag vehicles for violations or routine inspections, as it serves as a replacement for the physical driver’s license.

He added that he has already directed LTO law enforcers and deputized agents to recognize and honor the e-driver’s license.

“Kung ikaw ay hihinto dahil sa paglabag sa batas trapiko o sasailalim sa nakatakdang inspeksyon at wala kang dalang pisikal na lisensya, maaari mong ipakita ang iyong e-driver’s license sa pamamagitan ng LTMS portal,” Lacanilao said.

The LTO chief also noted that the digital version of the driver’s license contains all the personal details of the license holder stored in the LTMS database.

Motorists may obtain a digital copy of their driver’s license once they apply for or renew their license through the LTMS portal. License details may also be accessed via the LTMS platform or the eGovPH digital services portal.
