The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday reported a 12.40 percent decrease in Focus Crimes nationwide in 2025, based on crime data recorded from January to December, compared with the same period in 2024.
According to records from the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, focus crimes dropped from 40,771 incidents in 2024 to 35,717 in 2025, reflecting 5,054 fewer cases year-on-year.
Most major crime categories registered declines during the period. Rape cases posted the largest reduction at 22.68 percent, decreasing from 9,910 cases in 2024 to 7,662 in 2025.
Carnapping of motor vehicles fell by 20.18 percent, from 332 to 265 incidents.
Murder cases declined by 17.80 percent, from 4,151 to 3,412, while homicide cases dropped by 14.98 percent, from 1,268 to 1,078.
Physical injury cases decreased by 13.98 percent, from 5,593 to 4,811 incidents. Robbery cases also went down by 11.87 percent, from 4,136 to 3,645.
Theft registered a 4.31 percent decrease, from 13,232 cases in 2024 to 12,662 in 2025.
The PNP also noted a continued downward trend when comparing two equal 128-day periods within 2025. Crime incidents declined by 11.64 percent, from 13,307 cases recorded between April 19 and August 25 to 11,758 cases from August 26 to December 31, or 1,549 fewer incidents as of January 2, 2026.
Acting Chief PNP Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. attributed the decline to ongoing law enforcement operations and crime prevention efforts implemented nationwide.
Nartatez said the PNP will continue monitoring crime trends and implementing strategies aimed at sustaining the decline in Focus Crimes in 2026.
“As the year 2026 unfolds, the PNP assures the public that it will continue building on these gains, guided by its PNP Focus Agenda and unwavering commitment to protect lives, uphold the law, and serve the Filipino people with integrity and dedication,” he said.
