CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 41-year-old mechanic was arrested on Christmas Day after barangay residents reported he was armed, had harmed his two children, and caused fear in the community, according to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

The Bulakan Municipal Police Station apprehended the suspect, identified only as alias Berto, at around 3:30 p.m. on 25 December in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Police said they responded immediately to the barangay’s call and arrested Berto after spotting him in possession of a weapon. Seized from him were a .38-caliber revolver with one bullet and an improvised pen gun loaded with one 9mm live round. The firearms are undergoing verification at the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 3.

Berto, a resident of the same barangay, is now in police custody while authorities prepare criminal charges against him for violating Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Bulacan Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Angel L. Garciillano stressed the importance of prompt action on such reports.

“We need to act fast to prevent further violence,” he said. “Our campaign against illegal guns will remain strict to keep our communities safe and peaceful.”
