Some P5 million worth of cosmetic products were seized by authorities during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Tungkong Mangga, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, on 7 September.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), its Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, together with representatives from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the San Jose del Monte City Police Station, conducted the operation that resulted in the arrest of a female suspect.
Authorities seized 78 boxes of unregistered cosmetic products and beauty creams with an estimated value of P5 million.
The report stated that the female suspect, who owned the seized products, was caught in possession and control of, and storing and selling, cosmetic products that were not duly registered with the FDA.
Buying and using unregistered beauty creams poses health risks because these products bypass regulatory oversight, meaning their safety, quality and ingredients cannot be guaranteed.
The CIDG leadership lauded PCOL Grant A. Gollod, regional chief of CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, and the CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, led by PMAJ Domingo A. Resma Jr., for busting the trading of substandard cosmetic and beauty products.
