San Miguel Beer look to clinch the No. 1 seed when it takes on Meralco in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup tonight at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Game time is at 7:30 p.m. with the Beermen aiming to end the elimination round with nine straight victories.
San Miguel is coming off a 135-115 win over Terrafirma on Wednesday and head coach Leo Austria reminded his wards that even with the twice-to-beat advantage secured, they can’t be complacent.
“This is a good development for us because it’s our goal from the start, to make it to the top four,” Austria said, adding that they are determined to go hard despite their advantage heading into the next round.
“Still, we have to work hard because other teams are hard to beat. You cannot relax.”
The Beermen will lean on CJ Perez after scoring 26 points and grabbing six rebounds against the Dyip.
Meanwhile, the Bolts are hoping for one last push to enter the top four of the standings.
Meralco, holding a 6-4 slate, is coming off a 105-84 victory over Converge to extend its winning streak to three straight games.
CJ Cansino will be one of the main scoring options for the Bolts after scoring 29 points against the FiberXers.
TNT will be taking on a lowly Blackwater side at 5:15 p.m. to open today’s double-header.
