Actress and entrepreneur Ellen Adarna has opened up about a deeply personal spiritual moment that affirmed her decision to separate from husband Derek Ramsay, sharing how an unexpected sign arrived when she needed it most.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Ellen revealed that during the early days of contemplating the separation, she repeatedly asked the universe for guidance—seeking reassurance that she was making the right decision for herself and her son.

“During the beginning of my whole separation, I kept asking the universe for signs… just to know if I was doing the right thing. And out of nowhere, Lynyrd messages me (without knowing anything I was going through),” she wrote.

The message came from her friend, artist Lynyrd Paras, who sent her an artwork without any knowledge of her marital struggles. When Ellen opened it, she was overcome with emotion. The piece bore a single word: Malaya.

“Then this arrived. I cried. That was the sign. Malaya,” she said.

For Ellen, the timing felt overwhelming. She had not shared her situation with Lynyrd, making the artwork feel like an unexpected but powerful confirmation that her doubts and fears were leading her toward freedom, not failure.

Ellen said the moment resonated beyond her alone. Members of her household staff, who had witnessed her emotional distress during that period, were also moved to tears upon seeing the artwork.

“Grabe, we all cried—pati mga yaya ko—lahat kami nangilabot,” she shared.

Lynyrd later sent another artwork carrying a second affirmation: “I can, I will, I must,” a message that mirrored Ellen’s growing resolve to reclaim her peace.

Her revelations come weeks after Ellen publicly spoke about the alleged infidelity that she said led her to finally end the marriage. In November, she disclosed that while she wanted to reveal the identity of the woman involved, her lawyers had advised her against doing so.

“As much as I’d want to reveal who this girl is, I cannot. My lawyers advised me not to—I can get into trouble,” she said.

She clarified that the woman was not Derek Ramsay’s former girlfriend, adding that she believed the individual had long been present in his life. Ellen said learning about the situation prompted her decision to walk away from the marriage.

For someone who rarely speaks about her inner struggles, Ellen’s account of seeking signs from the universe revealed the emotional weight of her choice. The word “Malaya,” meaning free, encapsulated what she needed to hear—validation of her instincts, the courage to let go, and the reassurance that choosing herself was an act of necessity, not selfishness.

As she continues to navigate heartbreak, Ellen is moving forward with clarity and conviction, grounded in the belief that when asked sincerely, the universe does not whisper—it responds. For her, that answer came boldly, on canvas, at exactly the moment she needed it most.
