Family togetherness, teamwork and peace and inclusivity amid diversity — these are just some of the golden values that kids and kids-at-heart could pick up from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ latest offering, Zootopia 2, now showing in cinemas nationwide and available in IMAX, 4DX and Screen X.
In a statement sent to DAILY TRIBUNE, Disney said Zootopia 2 has claimed the highest global opening for a Disney animated film ever at $556 million and is dominating the box office in Southeast Asia.
The film has generated over $8 million across the region, making it the biggest Hollywood animation opening of 2025 in Southeast Asia. It is the biggest Disney animation opening after Frozen 2 in both Malaysia and Thailand.
To celebrate the release, Disney rolled out immersive fan activations across the region, including a Zootopia-themed roving bus and mall installation in the Philippines to MRT station takeovers in Indonesia and a local voices social campaign in Thailand.
Zootopia 2 is currently showing exclusively in cinemas today, anchoring the holiday corridor for Disney ahead of Avatar: Fire & Ash on December 17.
Helmed by directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard, Zootopia 2 is an expansion of the vibrant city with new friends, foes and fun adventures.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman lead the star-studded cast as they reprise their roles as the beloved duo of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, with Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan joining the ensemble as the voice of the new character, Gary de’Snake.
In Zootopia 2, Hopps and Wilde find themselves unraveling a mystery alongside a snake called Gary De’Snake, who arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down.
