The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday touted how it prevented a potentially dangerous situation in Pasay City last month.
According to the PNP, a resident reported the illegal discharge of a firearm via the DILG Unified 911 hotline around 9:55 am on 11 October.
PNP Acting Chief P/LtGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. hailed the Pasay City police for their quick response and for launching follow-up operations that led to the arrest of a 35-year-old male suspect within hours.
“Every report from our citizens through Unified 911 is a call to action. With timely information and coordinated response, the PNP ensures that every community remains protected and every life safeguarded,” he said.
He added that the PNP has coordinated closely with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to ensure a swift and effective response.
The suspect is now in police custody pending legal proceedings.
Nartatez noted that the incident demonstrates the effectiveness of the Unified 911 system in enabling rapid police action.
“This operation reflects the PNP’s commitment to maintaining peace and order while working hand-in-hand with communities to prevent further lawless acts,” he said.
