CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A murder suspect was killed in a shootout in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, just days before families across the country prepare to observe Undas.
The incident occurred on 29 October at around 1:45 PM in Brgy. Muzon South, after the San Jose del Monte City Police Station (SJDM CPS) received reports of a man firing a weapon indiscriminately. Responding officers encountered the suspect, identified only as "Ken," who allegedly fired at them.
Police returned fire, leading to a shootout during which "Ken" was struck. He was taken to Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities recovered a Taurus 9mm pistol and several spent shell casings from the scene.
A member of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), who was assisting the police, sustained minor injuries during the exchange, according to police reports.
PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., PRO3 Regional Director, commended the officers for their actions. "The swift and disciplined action of our personnel reflects our continued dedication to protect the people and preserve peace and order across Central Luzon,” he said.
The incident remains under investigation.
