Liza Soberano has confirmed that she and Enrique Gil ended their relationship almost three years ago, putting an end to long-running speculation about their status.
Speaking on the Can I Come In? podcast on 14 August, Soberano said, “I’ve been itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up.” She explained that they initially kept quiet at Gil’s request, adding that their split was “full of love” despite the difficulty of ending the relationship.
Soberano described Gil as her “childhood best friend” and said she still sees their time together fondly. She admitted feeling guilt over not holding on but stressed that the breakup was not caused by wrongdoing, only that “we weren’t a match anymore.”
She also reflected on their beginnings, saying their romance developed naturally even before they became a love team, and that their partnership became a “safety net” that helped her overcome personal struggles and achieve independence.
Gil has yet to comment on Soberano’s interview.
