For rising Kapamilya star JC Alcantara, sharing the screen with Barbie Forteza isn’t just a career milestone—it’s the fulfillment of a decade-long dream.
At the media conference for the upcoming horror film P77, JC openly expressed his admiration and gratitude for the Kapuso Primetime Princess, calling their collaboration a “dream job.” The film, which marks their first on-screen partnership, is set to hit cinemas on July 30.
“Isang karangalan makatrabaho si Barbie,” JC said with heartfelt sincerity. “Fan na ako niya since 2011. Bata pa lang ako, pinapanood ko na siya. Kaya sobrang grateful ako na ako ‘yung napili. Sa dami ng artista, ako ‘yung nabigyan ng chance. Thank you talaga.”
JC admitted that stepping onto the set of P77 initially came with nerves, especially given Barbie’s stature in the industry.
“Kinakabahan talaga ako noong una,” he confessed. “Barbie Forteza ‘yan—pangarap kong maka-trabaho. Pero kailangan kong lampasan ‘yung kaba. Horror ‘to, kailangan kong gampanan si Theo at ipadama ‘yung takot at misteryo ng karakter.”
In P77, JC plays Theo, a mysterious figure central to the film’s eerie narrative. The film, directed by Mallari’s Derick Cabrido and produced by GMA Pictures and Clever Minds Inc., is written by Enrico Santos, with the story crafted by Anj Atienza and Xtian Julao.
As filming progressed, JC’s nervousness melted away, replaced by admiration for Barbie’s professionalism, warmth, and work ethic.
“Sobrang saya katrabaho si Barbie,” he said, beaming. “Sobrang bait, sobrang dedikado. Makikita mo, nagbabasa siya ng script sa isang tabi. Tahimik lang pero focused. Ang gaan ng atmosphere kapag nando’n siya.”
He also highlighted Barbie’s generosity and warmth behind the scenes.
“Hindi lang siya mabait sa co-actors. Lahat ng nasa set, binibigyan niya ng pansin. Kaya ang saya. Sana hindi pa ‘to ‘yung last naming project.”
With a gripping horror plot and an exciting new tandem in JC Alcantara and Barbie Forteza, P77 promises to be one of this year’s must-watch films. But for JC, the real horror would be not getting to work with Barbie again.
“Kung may chance ulit, sana maulit,” he said. “Kasi ‘yung ganitong experience—once in a lifetime.”
