Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN, has released an official statement in response to the circulation of manipulated and defamatory content involving their artist, Fyang Smith.
In a strongly worded post, the agency condemned the spread of fake videos and images targeting the young talent, calling out the malicious intent behind the digital manipulation. According to Star Magic, the doctored materials were created and shared to deliberately tarnish Fyang’s name, image, and reputation.
“Star Magic condemns the act of illegally manipulating videos and/or photos of celebrities or anyone, moreso when intended mainly to damage a person’s name, image and reputation,” the statement read.
The agency appealed to the public to refrain from engaging with or further sharing the said fake materials, emphasizing that such content not only violates a person’s rights but also contributes to the broader issue of online harassment and digital abuse.
Fyang Smith, a rising star known for her promising projects and authentic charm, is the latest victim in a growing trend of celebrity deepfakes and image-based manipulation on social media. The incident has sparked concern among fans and fellow artists, with many calling for stricter regulation and accountability in online spaces.
Star Magic reiterated its commitment to protecting the welfare of its talents and confirmed that legal action is being pursued. The agency warned that perpetrators — including those who create, post, distribute, or duplicate such content — will be held accountable.
“The welfare of our talents is our top priority,” the agency added. “We intend to pursue legal action against the perpetrators and anyone who posts, distributes, or duplicates these videos and images.”
