Book Nook wrapped up an inspiring month of activities in May, continuing its mission to cultivate creativity, community, and literacy in an inclusive space designed for readers and learners of all ages. From mindfulness workshops to intergenerational storytelling and a milestone collaboration with the National Library of the Philippines, Book Nook reaffirmed its role as a hub for imagination and connection.
Kicking off the month was Pressed with Love, a flower-pressing workshop at Book Nook SM Podium. The activity introduced participants — both young and old — to the calming art of preserving blooms, transforming everyday petals into lasting mementos. The hands-on experience emphasized mindfulness, creativity, and the soothing rhythm of slow artmaking.
Storytelling also took center stage with Read With Us, an engaging session for children from Barangay San Nicolas, Pasig City. In partnership with IBBY Philippines, Southern Voices Printing Press, and Vibal Foundation, the event featured a reading of Nakisisilong, the 2025 Severino Reyes Medal-winning book by Eljay Castro Deldoc and Richard Red C. Elli. The tale reinforced empathy and community — key values that align with Book Nook’s own advocacy of nurturing safe, welcoming spaces for everyone.
Mother’s Day was celebrated through a heartfelt Book Reading Session in partnership with BookShelf PH. The event honored the role of mothers in passing down stories and wisdom through generations, offering families a chance to bond over literature in a warm, reflective gathering.
Crowning the month’s milestones was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Library of the Philippines, marking the launch of a Nationwide Book Donation Drive. The initiative aims to provide underserved communities with free reading materials, bridging public-private collaboration through the Book Nook platform and reinforcing the national commitment to accessible education.
Book Nook invites individuals and organizations to join its efforts in championing literacy, creativity, and inclusion. Interested partners can connect for future storytelling events, workshops, and community engagements by visiting https://linktr.ee/smbooknook.
