The critically acclaimed, Tony award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen is finally making its way to the Philippines.
GMG Productions has recently confirmed the run of the United Kingdom touring production of Dear Evan Hansen, bringing one of the most celebrated musicals of the past decade to Filipino audiences for the first time. This highly anticipated production is set to run this September at The Theatre at Solaire.
“Filipino audiences have been asking for Dear Evan Hansen for years, and we’re beyond excited to finally bring this production to Manila,” said Carlos Candal, chief executive officer of GMG Productions. “The story, music, and message of Dear Evan Hansen resonate so deeply with so many people, and we can’t wait for Filipino fans to experience it live.”
Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of Evan, an anxious high school student longing for a sense of belonging. When a misunderstanding spirals into something far bigger than he ever imagined, he faces an impossible decision: tell the truth and lose everything or embrace a lie that brings him closer to the life he has always dreamed of. As the story unfolds, Evan navigates the complexities of truth, connection, and self-acceptance in a world that often feels isolating.
The UK touring production of Dear Evan Hansen is produced by ATG Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Nottingham Playhouse. Featuring music by the Emmy-, Grammy-, Tony-, and Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen has been recognized as one of the most impactful musicals of the past decade. It has won four Tony awards, including Best Musical, the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Director Adam Penford shared, “Dear Evan Hansen has thrilled audiences on both sides of the Atlantic since it first premiered in 2016. Evan’s powerful story grips and moves people told through a captivating script and musical score. This exciting UK and International tour production offers the opportunity to reexamine some of its contemporary themes and present this brand-new version to more people.”
Since its Broadway debut in 2016, Dear Evan Hansen has touched the hearts of audiences across the globe, earning praise for its powerful themes and performances. The New York Times called it “a breathtaking knockout of a musical,” while The Washington Post hailed it as “one of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history.”
Critics have also praised the UK tour production, with WhatsOnStage raving, “Voices you could listen to for forever,” Birmingham Mail calling it “truly breathtaking,” and Nottingham Post declaring it “one of the most relevant, compelling, thought-provoking musicals I’ve seen… and it’s also hugely entertaining.”
Tickets to the Manila season of Dear Evan Hansen will officially go on sale on 15 April exclusively via TicketWorld. The pre-sale period runs from 8 to 14 April.
