Cabangan, Zambales — A dolphin was rescued by the fisherfolk of Barangay San Isidro on Wednesday.
According to the Cabangan Municipal Police Station, the dolphin, named "Miggy," was found near the shorelines of the barangay, covered in wounds.
The Cabangan MPS reported that government agencies quickly provided assistance, including the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
The group treated the dolphin’s wounds and moved it to a safe area under expert care to ensure its safety.
BFAR Masinloc has taken the dolphin into their custody and is continuing efforts to ensure that "Miggy" recovers fully.
The Cabangan MPS highlighted that the incident reflects the Bayanihan and Malasakit spirit of both the fisherfolk and government agencies in protecting the region’s natural resources and marine life.
