BATAC CITY, Ilocos Norte – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) conducted a two-day theoretical driving course at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) from 20 to 21 March, providing students with essential knowledge on traffic laws, road safety, and responsible driving.
Held at the MMSU Nacida Building, the training aimed to help students, particularly women, become licensed drivers by equipping them with fundamental road safety principles. LTO admin aides Jessica Joy Asuncion and Juleous Ceasar Ramos facilitated the sessions, engaging 56 students in discussions on defensive driving, traffic regulations, and the legal requirements for obtaining a driver’s permit.
LTO Batac District Head Judy Glarifa Sabas underscored the importance of road safety education, emphasizing that reducing road accidents among students is one of the agency’s priorities. In a letter to MMSU, she reaffirmed LTO’s commitment to promoting safe driving practices.
MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for LTO’s effort to educate students on responsible driving. He also stated that the university is open to future collaborations on road safety programs.
Participants received certificates at the end of the course, which they can use to apply for an LTO student driver’s permit, a requirement under Republic Act No. 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code).
