The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday touted what it called a “remarkable success” in its anti-illegal drug campaign, yielding P20.7 billion worth of seized illegal drugs.

In a statement, PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil said there was a staggering 101 percent increase in the success rate of the “PNP’s recalibrated and bloodless anti-illegal drugs campaign” from January 1 to December 15 this year.

Marbil attributed this success to all PNP units nationwide that have “diligently implemented focused and strategic” anti-illegal drug campaigns.

He noted the arrest of 57,129 individuals following serious anti-illegal drug operations across the country.

“The campaign's emphasis on high-value individuals while ensuring the protection of human rights and due process resulted in the confiscation of over 8 metric tons of illegal drugs, nearly 2 metric tons more compared to 2023,” Marbil said.

Among the seized illegal drugs are methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as ‘shabu,’ marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, and kush.

Marbil said this “reflects the diverse range of narcotics targeted by the PNP's comprehensive anti-illegal drugs operation.”

“This extraordinary achievement is a testament to our focused operations against high-value individuals in the illegal drug trade,” he added.

He said the PNP is committed to continuing the gains of the administration’s calibrated anti-drug campaign.

“[This] puts a premium on human rights and has proven that we can dismantle drug syndicates without unnecessary loss of life,” he stressed.

Among the regions, the Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) recorded the highest haul, with P9.9 billion worth of seized drugs, followed by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) with P2.4 billion.

Marbil acknowledged the dedication of all PNP units involved in these anti-illegal drug operations.

“I commend our police officers who put their lives on the line to ensure that no illegal drugs make their way into our communities. Their sacrifices and dedication are instrumental in safeguarding our citizens and dismantling the structures of drug syndicates,” he said.
