Khimo Gumatay’s most-awaited breakthrough

Khimo Gumatay proved that it is truly his time.

At a recent media conference, Gumatay said that it was during the final showdown of the Idol Philippines Season 2 prayed that he won't make any mistakes.

"Win or lose," he added.

He was named the second winner of the competition after he impressed judges Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Moira de la Torre, and Chito Miranda and the Uplivers, garnering a total combined judges' scores and public votes of 89 percent, beating competitors Ryssi Avila (49.38 percent) and Kice (45.77 percent).

His winning piece "My Time" is written by ASAP mainstay Jeremy Glinoga.

"Idol Philippines was indeed a humbling experience and also a blessing," Gumatay added.

He then thanked the people who pushed him into joining the competition, particularly his family whom he said is very proud of him.

Gumatay took home a grand prize of P1 million, a brand-new house and lot from Camella worth P2.5 million, a recording contract with ABS-CBN Music, and a full franchise package from Dermacare Face, Body, and Laser Center worth P3 million.

He added that he will be using the prizes in the "most beneficial and responsible way."

Together with the top five finalists, Gumatay said that they won't be leaving ABS-CBN. He doesn't see staying as a sacrifice as it's the network that gave him his time.
