Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino urged the public on Wednesday to offer a glass of water to motorcycle-riding delivery workers as temperatures rise with the onset of the El Niño phenomenon.

The appeal will form part of a comprehensive labor advisory that the DoLE is set to release today, outlining protection and safety measures for delivery personnel exposed to extreme heat.

Tolentino cited that the advisory addresses El Niño-related illnesses, employer liabilities, and guidelines urging customer patience regarding delayed deliveries caused by severe weather conditions.

The upcoming release follows two previous labor advisories issued by the agency since 23 October, which cover the compensability of heat-related illnesses and mandatory heat control measures that business owners must implement.

As part of ongoing efforts, Tolentino scheduled meetings with employers from retail and sales establishments on Wednesday to discuss practical workplace adjustments and protective protocols for employees vulnerable to high temperatures.
