SC explores AI, cybersecurity innovations

Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led a high-level Philippine judicial delegation to cybersecurity firm Fortinet’s global headquarters in Silicon Valley last week to inspect artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and network security solutions aimed at safeguarding court systems.
The visit forms part of the judiciary’s ongoing modernization push under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027, which seeks to digitize court services, secure case records, and expand online judicial access across the archipelago.
Gesmundo was joined by Supreme Court Associate Justices Jose Midas P. Marquez and Raul B. Villanueva, alongside court chief technology officer Jed Sherwin Uy and other senior judicial staff.
During technical briefings at Fortinet’s Executive Briefing Center, company executives presented demonstrations of AI-driven threat intelligence, quantum-ready security frameworks, cloud defense systems, and centralized network protection designed for public sector infrastructure.
Fortinet global vice president for marketing Anthony James, ASEAN manager Ching Ping Wong, and Philippine public sector head John Mark Empig represented the company during the two-day consultations.
Judicial officials presented operational updates on the Philippine Supreme Court’s digitalization initiatives, citing the need for institutional cybersecurity measures to protect court databases and online filing platforms against evolving cyber threats.
