The provincial government of Pampanga celebrated the heritage of its indigenous communities during Aeta Day at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Thursday.

Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the event, emphasizing that the celebration recognizes not only the culture of the Aeta community but also their potential and aspirations for the future.

The gathering brought together roughly 1,000 Aeta student-scholars from Floridablanca, Porac and Mabalacat City.

They were joined by 200 Aeta residents from the upland villages of Floridablanca who are beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Project LAWA and BINHI initiatives.

Attendees presented cultural performances showcasing traditional songs and dances. In a gesture of appreciation, Aeta participants performed a musical tribute to the governor for her continued backing of the province’s indigenous peoples.

To support their studies, student-beneficiaries under the provincial government’s Educational Financial Assistance Program received P2,500 in cash assistance alongside five kilograms of rice, canned sardines and corned beef.

Additionally, Aeta elders received P11,400 each under a cash-for-work program, along with supplemental food packs.
