MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — A 45-year-old driver who allegedly fled after his vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle, killing a 25-year-old mother, was intercepted and arrested at a police checkpoint in Lantapan town Friday night.
Police said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Songco, was driving along the national highway when his vehicle collided with an incoming motorcycle carrying a mother, her baby and the motorcycle driver.
The impact threw the 25-year-old mother and her baby onto the concrete pavement. The mother was killed on the spot, while the baby, whom she was carrying, escaped unharmed.
The motorcycle driver sustained minor injuries.
The vehicle driver fled the scene after the collision but was later intercepted at a checkpoint in Barangay Bul-ogan, Lantapan.
The suspect is being held at the Lantapan police station pending the filing of criminal charges before the prosecutor’s office. His vehicle was also impounded at the police station.
