‘South Pacific’ returns for limited comeback run

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific returns to Manila for an eight-show comeback run this September at The Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. The production runs on 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 September, with eight performances scheduled. The September 18 and 19 shows are exclusive performances.
The musical was previously staged by the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music as part of its 80th founding anniversary. Its return follows the success of that production.
Set during World War II, South Pacific follows stories of love and conflict in the Pacific while confronting prejudice and discrimination. The musical features well-known songs including “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Bali Ha’i,” “Younger Than Springtime,” and “Happy Talk.”
Paolo O’Hara directs the comeback production, with Ciara Sotto as Nellie Forbush and Jose Vera Perez as Emile de Becque. The cast also includes Nenen Espina as Bloody Mary and Sean Nolasco as Lt. Cable.
The UST Symphony Orchestra will perform the score under the baton of Daniel Bartolome.
