  • Koronadal City recorded “very unhealthy” air quality at noon Sunday amid haze from Indonesia, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB).

In its air quality index chart, the DENR-EMB advised pedestrians to avoid heavy-traffic areas. People with heart or respiratory conditions, including asthma, were urged to stay indoors, rest, postpone non-essential trips, and voluntarily limit the use of motor vehicles.

Iligan City followed with an “acutely unhealthy” air quality reading, prompting authorities to advise the public to limit strenuous outdoor activities.

People with heart or respiratory conditions were urged to stay indoors and rest. Authorities also recommended postponing non-essential travel, limiting vehicle use, and reducing industrial activities.

The DENR-EMB earlier said the haze affecting parts of the country was caused by smoke from forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, carried into the Philippines by the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.
