When Frozen, the Disney animated film, first premiered in 2013, it was an instant hit. Little girls everywhere were dressed in Elsa's ice blue gown, and singing along to the anthemic Let It Go, alongside other beloved songs For the First Time in Forever, Love Is An Open Door, and Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" The film would go on to win "Best Animated Film," and also "Best Original Song" for Filipino-American two-time EGOT winner Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
In 2018, the film made its way to Broadway, adapted into a brand new musical featuring a dozen new songs written exclusively for the stage by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and book by Jennifer Lee. Since then, Frozen: The Broadway Musical has also opened on the West End, and has toured internationally.
The last time a Disney Theatricals musical was staged in Manila was Disney’s Newsies in 2017, which was also produced by 9 Works Theatrical.
