PAGASA Weather Specialist Chenel Dominguez reporting expected significant rainfall with possibilities of flooding and landslides over the provinces of Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro during 5 a.m. state weather update, 12 August 2026.
Provinces of Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro are expected to experience significant rainfall due to the prevailing southwest monsoon, or Habagat, with possible flooding and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported Wednesday morning.
“Dahil pa rin sa pag-iral ng Hanging Habagat, meron naman tayong inaasahan na significant rainfall dito sa may Zambales, Bataan at Occidental Mindoro,” PAGASA Weather Specialist Chenel Dominguez said in a 5 a.m. weather update.
“Pinapaalalahanan natin ang ating mga kababayan na nakatira dito dahil ilang araw na rin sila nakakaranas ng mga pag-ulan [ay] inaasahan naman natin ang humihina naman ang pag-ulan na nararanasan nila,” she added, noting that the ground in the mentioned areas remains soft, with flooding and landslides still possible.
(Due to the continued presence of the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, we are expecting significant rainfall over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro. We are reminding our fellow citizens who are staying there, as they have been experiencing rainfall for several days, that we are expecting the rainfall they are experiencing to weaken.)
PAGASA reported that Habagat continues to prevail, bringing clusters of clouds over the western section of the Philippines.
Dominguez reiterated that the western part of the country will experience occasional and heavy rainfall, particularly in the Ilocos Region, the western section of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Oriental Mindoro and Marinduque.
“Sa nalalabing bahagi lalo na ang placing east natin, magiging maaliwalas or improving na ang kanilang panahon,” the weather forecaster said, pointing out improving weather over the remaining areas of Luzon.
“Pero posible pa rin naman ang mga panandaliang buhos ng pag-ulan lalo na sa hapon at sa gabi dulot ito ng mga localized thunderstorms,” she added.
(For the remaining areas, especially the places in the east, their weather will become fair or improve. However, brief bursts of rainfall are still possible, especially in the afternoon and evening, due to localized thunderstorms.)
In the Visayas, particularly in Palawan, cloudy skies with scattered rainfall, especially over the northern section of Palawan, are expected.
For the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA forecast generally fair weather, with the possibility of hot and humid conditions, particularly from noon to the afternoon, with localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
