NUEVA ECIJA — The water elevation at Pantabangan Dam has risen to 180.83 meters as of 8 Aug., according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Nueva Ecija.

The dam’s water level increased by 0.50 meter over the past 24 hours due to continuous rainfall.

PDRRMO Nueva Ecija said the current water elevation is 40.17 meters below the 221-meter spilling level. It is also 28.81 meters below the 209.64-meter ideal water elevation based on the dam’s rule curve.

Meanwhile, the PDRRMO said several areas in Nueva Ecija remain under a yellow rainfall warning, including Lupao, Nampicuan, Cuyapo, Guimba, Talugtug, Muñoz, Talavera, Santo Domingo, Jaen, Cabanatuan, Santa Rosa, Aliaga, Quezon, Licab, Zaragoza, San Antonio, San Leonardo, San Isidro, Cabiao, San Jose, General Mamerto Natividad and Llanera.

The agency warned of possible flooding in flood-prone areas.

Light to moderate rains, with occasional heavy downpours, may persist for the next three hours in Gapan, General Tinio, Bongabon, Carranglan, Gabaldon, Laur, Palayan, Pantabangan, Peñaranda and Rizal.

Residents and local disaster risk reduction offices were advised to monitor weather conditions and await the next warning scheduled for 2 p.m. on 8 August.

Nueva Ecija is forecast to receive 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall on 9 August and another 50 to 100 millimeters on 10 August. Rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, while significant previous rainfall could worsen the impact in some communities.

The public and concerned disaster risk reduction offices were urged to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and remain alert for further heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm advisories and other severe weather information from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
